The day's biggest pickleball stories, plus full breakdowns of the paddles everyone is talking about: exploded layer by layer, measured, and checked against what real players say.
Paddle breakdowns
Each breakdown has an exploded 3D view, labelled parts, the full spec sheet, lab numbers and a read of player reviews.
Layer drawings are illustrative: they follow the manufacturer's spec sheet and published internals images. Hex shatter uses Uber H3 cells.
The method
Four layers of information go into every paddle page. Here is where each one comes from and what the numbers mean.
Dimensions, weight, core and face materials come straight from the manufacturer's product page. We keep the maker's own wording so you can compare like for like.
Each paddle is split into its layers: face, spin surface, core, ribs, edge guard, back face, throat, handle and grip. The model is built from the spec sheet and published internals images, then every part is labelled with the matching specs and features.
Verified-buyer reviews are collected from the retailer's review system, then sorted by topic (power, spin, control, feel, stability, build, handle). Each sentence is scored positive, mixed or negative so you can see what players love and what they push back on.
Where independent bench testing exists it appears in the Lab stats panel: serve speed, spin, swing weight, twist weight and balance, each ranked as a percentile against every paddle tested the same way.
Bench testing keeps the paddle, the ball and the motion the same every time, so the only thing that changes is the paddle. These are the standard methods behind each stat.
A 0 to 100 summary published with the bench numbers: higher means a more controlled, forgiving feel, lower means the paddle gives you less help.
A 0 to 100 summary on a touch-to-power scale: low reads as touch-oriented, high as power-oriented. It sits next to the serve-speed and punch-volley numbers it summarizes.
